Spencer's baptism

Spencer got baptized on September 24th. It was a special day and I'm so proud him.

He has looked forward to this day from the time he was very little and saw his older cousins getting baptized. I'm sure in the beginning it was just because he was a fish and wanted to get dunked in the water, but I know that as he approached the age of 8 that he understood the significance of this very important step in this life. One thing I love about Spencer is his desire to Choose the Right. I know that he wants to follow his Savior and that he has a testimony him.

He is such a good boy and I'm glad that he got to share this day with his family and friends. His Grandpa Slade gave a talk about baptism and talked about how Spencer now has the first key that he needs to return and live with Heavenly Father. It was a special thing having his Grandpa Slade talk. Spencer has some amazing grandparents. He also asked his cousin Jace (Dyches) to give a talk on the Holy Ghost. Jace is the oldest grandson on the Cook side and Spencer looks up to him.

Another thing I will always remember is that when the priesthood holders where standing the circle giving Spencer the gift of the Holy Ghost, Ty walked up and stood with all of them. He was so small looking up at all their faces and observing what was taking place.  After the baptism, we went to the park for lunch.  We then went back to our house and watched the baptism video that my mom and dad made for Spencer.  The kids look forward to getting their video and I know it will be cherished in the years to come.

Spencer and I went out to a field close to our home to take some pictures.  We were only there for about ten minutes when it started rain...I mean seriously rain.  I have good memories of this though.  Spencer was being his normal goofy happy self.  He liked being in his new suit and having his new scriptures that Grandma and Grandpa Slade gave him.

Spencer with Grandpa Slade and Grandma and Grandpa Cook.  The one of him with Grandpa Slade makes me laugh.  Grandpa Slade likes to ask gospel doctrine/knowledge kind of questions to see if the kids know the answers.  From the look on Spencer's face, he may need a little time to think about it.

Spencer and his dad.  I'm so mad that I didn't get a picture of them both in their white jumpsuits.  I'm sure Joel isn't as disappointed though.  He searched and searched for one that would fit him, but in the end he wasn't successful.  Let's just say he looked a little bit like Nacho Libre.  Just another good memory from this day!

It was a day I will always remember, and hopefully Spencer will too!
